Two people believed to be of Ethiopian origin have been arrested and are awaiting prosecution at Nyamira law courts for allegedly being in the country without proper documentation.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com after guiding the police to arrest the aliens, Riamoni chief Francis Rasugu said the host of the two men was also arrested to answer charges on hosting foreigners illegally.

This comes days after the chief launched a door-to-door operation of checking the identification cards of non-residents and establishing their original homes.

“We carried a crackdown aided by the police from Nyamira and I am glad to report that we have managed to arrest two men who seem to be of Ethiopian origin. We also arrested their host who is a client to explain circumstances in which the two were found in his house,” he said.

According to the chief, the names of the aliens were not established immediately since they could neither speak English nor Swahili or any other Kenyan dialect.

“We have tried to speak to them but they are unable to speak any recognizable language in the country. It is very difficult hence to know their names but the courts will do their part to establish their motive in the country,” he said.

Rasugu warned residents against hosting strangers without prior verification from the authorities besides promising dire consequences for the offenders.
