Some two people have this morning been detained at Thika police station after they were allegedly arrested in possession of five rolls of bhang at a local pub in the town centre.

Confirming the incident, Thika sub-county police commander Erastus Muthamia said that police were directed to the place by residents within the area who noted with concern the presence of the two unknown men.

He said that the plain-clothes police officers made the arrests noting that they had no identification but they insists that they reside around Thika.

“The police visited the place and found the culprits smoking bhang while drinking alcohol at the pub near Thika main stage and arrested them,” Muthamia said.

Speaking this morning from the police station, the police boss said that the suspects will be arraigned in court once police are through with investigations and that they will interrogate them to get more information on what their intention was.

The officer has urged the members of the public to report criminal incidences to security officers in a bid to reduce crime in Thika which he says that are on the rise.

"These petty crimes are very many at the moment in Thika but through such collaboration with the public it will be easier to tame them. Let's work together to clear criminals out of our area," he added.
