Police in Thika town have apprehended two murder suspects after Monday dawn’s killing of a watchman near Gatitu stage in Thika by unknown assailants.
The watchman, who had been guarding the Victory Kingdom Church in the area, is said to have heard screams from a fellow watchman in the neighborhood and was answering him when the culprits turned on him and murdered him before escaping.
The criminals went ahead and stole valuables from the church and set the bulk valuables that they couldn’t carry on fire before leaving.
OCPD Erastus Muthamia said the police were alerted by the watchman who escaped with injuries before he left for hospital and rushed to the scene but didn’t find them.
Muthamia added that through interrogation of the injured victim, the police have stormed a residential house in Makongeni this morning and arrested two suspects whom they are interrogating for information on the incident.
He called on anyone with information to volunteer and share with the police to fast track the investigations.
The two will remain in police custody until the police are through with interrogations.
