A court in Machakos on Monday released two people on a Sh500,000 bond each after denying robbery charges leveled against them.

The accused, Mike Njue and Alex Mutwiri Ndwiga are alleged to have broken into the house of Doreen Kinya and David Mwiendi at Karurini village in Matuu with machetes and metal bars.

According to prosecution, the two stole mobile phones, a gas cooker, cooking oil, clothes, beer and spirits among other valuables estimated at Sh163, 470 on Wednesday September 9.

The two are said to have armed themselves with crude weapons, entered into David Mwiendi's house and robbed him off valuables worth Sh138,470.

They also raided the house of Doreen Kinya and took away property valued at Sh25,000 and on a third account, the two with others not in court violently threatened and gang raped her.

They pleaded not guilty on all the accounts before Principal Magistrate Caroline Obara before being released on a Sh500,000 bond each.

The case will be mentioned in October 15.
