Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said that the county government has acquired a total of 1,700 acres of land, and that fencing on the same has commenced.

“Uasin Gishu County government has set a side Sh56 million for the process of fencing the farm electrically to avoid intruders and private developers from acquiring the land,” he said.

He added that after its completion, the county will greatly benefit from foreign exchange, and investors will flock, thus improve the economy as it will also offer employment to majority of Kenyan youths who are jobless.

“We are in the process of acquiring giraffes, antelopes, zebras, and other herbivorous animals that will soon be taken to the farm and we will also hire game rangers to protect our animals which will also be our source of wealth,” he added.

The deputy governor further refuted claims that there is a dispute over the project from the neighbouring Elgeiyo Marakwet County, and stated categorically that it is situated in Uasin Gishu County, only that a few political leaders want to extend their area of jurisdiction.
