Uasin GIshu County Assembly speaker Isaac Terer has blamed the county government for the delay in budget reading process, whose deadline was Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking on Tuesday at the county assembly after the day’s session, Terer said that the delay will be badly felt by wananchi on the ground, since it will delay allocation of resources.
“Last Thursday, we had a productive session where we passed the proposed budget and we took the document to the executive member Committee for finance for their approval and perusal,” said Terer.
“He pointed the blaming finger on the executive for always making the budget making process hectic by not cooperating fully and meeting the deadline,” he added.
He challenged the leader of majority Josphat Lowoi and the county assembly as a whole to work fast and ensure that the budget document is brought to the county assembly through passing legislations.
"County Assembly plays an oversight role to the county government and is obliged to push them until the budget proposal is brought in the house for reading, thereafter passed,” he added.
He urged the executive not to take the county government as a competing organ, urging them to work together for the betterment of services rendered to the people.
