Uasin Gishu County has launched its 2013-2018 strategic plan meant to improve health services in the county.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday, Uasin Gishu County Health Director Evans Kiprotich said that the strategic plan is built on six pillars.
“The 2013-2014 strategic plan entails six pillars meant to improve health service and bring quality services to wananchi,” he said.
“They include eliminating communicable diseases, reversing the trend of non-communicable diseases, reducing the risk of health such as educating the public on dangers of diseases,” added Kiprotich.
He also mentioned that they aim to offer a good working environment for health staff, as well as providing essential services to the public including enough drugs and staff, and collaborating with other health stakeholders to offer essential and quality services at a low cost.
He further reiterated that Uasin Gishu County government, through the ministry of health, will ensure that the strategic plan is implemented to the latter, since it has more good than harm to the residents.
He also challenged pregnant women to ensure they give birth in hospitals, to take advantage of free maternity services to reduce child mortality rate caused by giving birth at home.
