Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged county residents to embrace unity and shun any activities that will disrupt peace.

Speaking at Maili Tisa town in Eldoret on Thursday, Mandago said that the county will be realise development if there is peace and stability.

Mandago further noted that every resident has a responsibility to contribute to peace and unity, which he said are catalysts to socio-economic development.

Mandago said that Uasin Gishu is a cosmopolitan county, and that it will be good if residents embrace each other.

The governor noted that the county’s image had been tarnished following previous violence and conflicts.

Mandago said the government had embarked on a mission to restore the image of the county through peace caravans.

“We understand that the image of our county has been tarnished by previous acts of conflict and violence but we are working to restore our image,” he said.

He further urged politicians in the county to help preach unity among the people, noting that every elected leader must join the caravan and help restore the peace and unity of Uasin Gishu people.

On the same note, the governor assured Uasin people that his government is committed to development, and vowed to complete all development projects by the end of 2016.
