Uasin Gishu County government has aside Sh1.2 Billion development kitty for Members of County Assembly (MCAs).

County Finance executive (Cec) Shadrack Sambai has said the money will be used for development projects in wards.

Speaking from the county offices in Eldoret on Monday, the CeC said that the funds will be controlled by MCAs.

He stated that each of the 30 wards in the county will get Sh40 million starting this 2015/2016 Financial Year.

Sambai said that the move was agreed upon by both the executive and ward representatives.

“The county government has decided, after deliberations, to set aside a Sh1.2 billion specifically for development in the wards,” he said.

The executive added that the county government is focused on promoting development across the county.

He said that more programmes aimed at making services available to the people will be implemented adding that the county government has put in place measures that will see it generate revenue.

Last week, the county passed its Sh5.8 billion budget for 2015/2016 Financial Year.

The county intends to spend 55 per cent of the money on recurrent expenditure while 45 per cent of the budget  will be spent on development.
