Speaking in his office on Saturday, Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said that the programme, which will be launched soon is mainly meant to rehabilitee the streets kids, identify their talents and if possible identify their parents.

“Eldoret has more than 500 street children, they will undergo screening in order for them to join the programme where they will undergo formal education at primary and technical colleges as a way of rehabilitating them and also improving their lives,” he said.

He further added that many of the street children spend their time using drugs and causing havoc in towns, with the main cause being neglect by both their parents and the governments.

“We have rolled out the practice of taking records of the street children to know their age, which will help us in helping them if they will join primary schools or taking to rehabilitation centers thereafter given some capital to start their business,” he said.
