The CeC in charge of Environment, Water, Energy and Natural Resources in Uasin Gishu County Mary Njogu has urged residents to evacuate areas that might be affected by the Elnino rains.
Speaking at the Uasin Gishu County government offices on Thursday, Njogu said that there are areas which have been declared as hot spots, and the residents should avoid them with immediate effect.
"Areas that residents should avoid are areas close to Sosiani River and informal areas such as Munyaka, Huruma, Langas and areas such as Tubo, Kesses, Kapsaret and CBD. We as the ministry of environment urge residents to avoid such areas," she said.
She also reiterated that the Sh30 million, which was meant for disaster management and the Sh180 million money meant for water services will be channeled for Elnino preparedness.
"As Uasin Gishu County government, we are really prepared for the Elnino rains and we urge Uasin Gishu residents to follow the advise offered by our officers who are in all the sub-counties," she added.
