The Information Communication and Technology Authority (ICTA) through its consultant Information Professionals Africa Limited (IPA) have validated Uasin gishu county ICT road map.

IPA, an ICT consultant company was appointed by the central government to Collect and analyse relevant information with regards to the state of county government in the use of ICTS.

The authority has finalized its phase I ground work on identifying the key priorities and areas where the county needs ICT related solutions.

The road map has identified the strengths, weaknesses and lack of information Communication Technology in the county and produced a plan that will guide future investments and engagements into ICT related projects.

In a validation stakeholder’s workshop in Eldoret on Wednesday, John Walubengo, an IPA consultant, provided scenarios where ICT projects, strategies and possible outcomes can apply.

Speaking in the meeting Walubengo challenged the county to give ICT a better perspective citing the 21st century economy and livelihoods majorly depend on ICT aided tools.

Walubengo, in his presentation proposed that the County should establishment of resource centers to allow citizens to easily get access to information.

“These are ICT hubs where the citizens can access information both governmental and private without travelling to the headquarters or major towns,” said Walubengo.

He said that the applications that will be used to deliver information should be tailored to enable them to use local language and symbols so that it can be easily inferred by the community.

“The project shall allow even the illiterate members of the society get quality service since most of the technology used shall be customized to meet local demands,” said Walubengo.

The consultant also emphasized that consideration for people with disability should not be overlooked.

The CEC, ICT and E-government Barnabas Sang said that the county was moving towards the right direction with matters ICT and soon it shall blossom to better standards.

“ICT is the pillar to drive sector performance to efficient service delivery in the County, it goes beyond being an enabler of business,” said Sang.

Sang said that the county is yet to launch the developed an automation of revenue collection strategy.

“The county invested in the last financial year on developing revenue strategy which will enable land owners and other businesses to be registered electronically,” said sang

He said that the county the department will dedicate the funds allocated this financial year to develop and expand coverage of revenue allocation.

“Although ICT is still in its developmental stage in this county, as departments we plan to invest on online platform where we will make a portal were people can do business online,” Said sang.

The County executive said that the county is yet to sign a ksh.2 billion Mou with AMREF international in a bid to develop a health management information system.

“The AMREF support is prove that we should impress ICT since there are great results that can be harnessed by a systematic speedy implementation of ICT,”Said sang.
