Bodaboda and taxi operators along Uganda Road in Eldoret will soon have an alternative central parking area to conduct their business.
This is according to Uasin Gishu roads CeC, Gideon Birir who called upon members of the North Rift Bodaboda and Taxis Association to give the county government time to provide them with an alternative area to conduct their business.
Speaking on Monday, Birir said the county government was aware of the challenge the operators are facing the closure of their parking area and that they are working to ensure that alternative parking is allocated to them soonest possible.
"We are in the process of purchasing land that will mainly be for taxis and bodabodas as we decongest the town. It will be easier to access taxi services since they will be located at a central place," he said.
He added that the reason behind the closure of the Uganda Road parking areas was due to congestion caused by parking along the busy road thus endangering people's lives.
The chairman of the bodaboda and taxis association, Richard Mukhobero says that the operators are losing customers since they have been forced to move.
