A Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers’ (Kuppet) leader has threatened to initiate the transfer of union members in Rirumi secondary school citing lack of respect by students.
This comes after a student in the school allegedly hit his teacher and run away. The teachers have accused the police of taking no action against the student since the incident took place earlier this week.
Speaking to the press on Thursday in Nyamira town Kuppet executive secretary, Lewish Nyakweba said they would transfer their members to other institutions as a way of disciplining the students.
“We Kuppet members can’t allow our teachers to continue serving at Rirumi secondary school if action is not going to be taken against the student,” he said.
Nyakweba added, “This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at that school.”
The members have demanded for the arrest of the student threatening to go ahead with the transfer process.
