A casual worker at the Egerton University was arrested in Nakuru after being found in possession of a stolen mobile phone.

The woman works at the university's School of Health Sciences was arrested by officers from the Central Police Station after they had tracked the cell phone, which was stolen in Nakuru a few weeks ago.

The officers said that the cell phone had been stolen after the owner was attacked by unknown assailants during the night and leaving him badly injured.

The suspect only identified as Kwamboka pleaded with the police arrest her saying that she had bought the mobile phone from a stranger in the town.

“I never stole the Techno phone and I have never stolen anything in my life. I bought it since it was very cheap and I did not have a phone," she said.

She also said that that she had no one to take care of her children if she was jailed since her relatives were far away and she had come to Nakuru to earn a living.

She works as cleaner in the Egerton University School of Health Sciences that is located in Milimani area in Nakuru County
