University students in Uasin Gishu County have been asked to shun protests to air their grievances.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno told the university students that there were other appropriate ways they can use to get the attention of their administrations.

Chemno added that the county government will work with universities and colleges administrators in the region to address challenges facing students.

“I advise the students to adopt the right channels when airing their grievances,” Chemno told journalists in Eldoret on Tuesday.

He at the same time urged student leaders to be objective and provide the right leadership when dealing with issues affecting them.

The Deputy Governor noted that Uasin Gishu hosts many universities and colleges and that it will be important if there was peace.

He said that learning and education can only progress in a peaceful environment.

The deputy governor added that the county will support programmes meant to boost education and also work with students to promote education standards.
