Lari constituency MP Mburu Kahangara has asked beneficiaries of Uwezo Fund to use the funds wisely.
Speaking when he disbursed Uwezo Funds cheques to youth at his Lari office on Wednesday, the MP said that youths will benefit if they utilise the Uwezo Fund money given to them wisely.
The Lari lawmaker said that over 10,000 youths have benefited from the Funds in the area.
“I advise beneficiaries of the Uwezo and any other fund to utilise the money wisely,” he said.
The MP further urged youths who have not applied for the funds to do so arguing that through the funds, youth will be able to start business enterprises.
Kahangara noted that unemployment remains a key thorn to development.
“Lack of employment opportunities for our youthful population remains a challenge that needs to be addressed,” he said.
Kahangara also encouraged women in the constituency not to shy away from seeking the funds, adding that the Uwezo Fund is not only for youths but for all marginalised groups.
The Lari lawmaker also encouraged marginalised groups in the constituency to seek government tenders.
He said that only a low number of applicants are seeking government tenders from the constituency.
