Kikuyu cart pushers -mkokoteni owners -who use the busy southern bypass have been advised to stick to their lane or risk arrest.

Speaking in her office Thursday, Kikuyu traffic base commander Inspector Elizabeth Wakuloba blamed mkokoteni owners for the traffic snarl-ups witnessed on the busy road because they use the major lanes meant for vehicles instead of sticking to theirs.

She said the actions by the owners also risks causing accidents.

Wakuloba said over the past two weeks, they have received complaints from motorists who want the issue addressed.

She said despite arresting one of the cart pushers, there are those who still flout traffic rules.

She said any mkokoteni owner who will be arrested for such offences will be charged accordingly.

"I am warning mkokoteni owners who have developed the tendency of neglecting the lane meant for them and using the bypass thus causing traffic jams. Those who will be arrested will be charged and their mkokotenis taken," warned Wakuloba.
