Form Four candidates from Keera ward in Nyamira County have been urged to seek free tuition services offered by a group of students from the region taking education degrees in various public universities.

The group, popularly known as Education Front, on Thursday said the initiative was started as a way of helping students revise following banning of tuition by the government.

They said that well-wishers had rented for them a building at Kemera market that can accommodate up to 50 students, but they will be giving weak students first priority in the remaining few weeks before schools reopen.

They asked parents to allow their children to participate in the free exercise instead of engaging themselves in activities that may lead them to trouble.

“We are very glad that well-wishers responded to our call and rented a spacious room for us. For the few weeks remaining, we are going to use it to teach students who may be weak in various subjects,” said Fatuma Orina.

“Parents should be free to urge their children to come over and benefit from this voluntary exercise instead of participating in activities which aren’t right,” she added.

They said the exercise will be held every holiday and in future it will be decentralised to various locations of the ward.

“We will be holding the clinics every holiday and soon we will be moving to locational level in a bid to reduce distance for those willing to participate,” said Willis Nyang’ena.
