A Naivasha court on Wednesday jailed police imposter Joshua Waiganjo for one year for being in possession of police attire illegally.

Waiganjo was found guilty of dressing in police uniform and impersonating as an assistant commissioner of police for personal gains.

Waiganjo, who told the court the that he once served as a senior police officer, is also to serve a separate six months in jail for illegally being in possession of police store and car keys.

The magistrate Mr Shadrack Mwinzi ordered that the terms be served concurrently.

Waiganjo came to the limelight six years ago after being nabbed by CID officers for facilitating a series of highway robberies along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway while impersonating as a police officer.
