The fight against drug and alcohol abuse intensified in Ruiru Constituency after PCEA Mukuyu Church youth conducted a peaceful demonstration along the streets of Ruiru town.

The event, which was flagged off by Kiambu County Youth and Sports Affair CeC Michael Waikenda on Saturday morning, was meant to sensitise residents on the dangers of consuming second generation liquor, and what can be done to transform the addicts into resourceful citizens.

Waikenda said that he feels honoured to be part of the team which has a good plan in transforming the county, and thus called on leaders to continue sensitizing the residents since the fight against illicit brew is not over yet.

“The fight against this homemade liquor is just beginning and am proud with the Ruiru youths for coming up with such an important event which leaders need to take into consideration,” said Waikenda.

The CeC, who was speaking at the event, said that Kiambu County is going miles in diminishing the dens of illicit liquor which affects our generation, and further urged the youths to indulge in sports activity to keep their minds busy from criminal activitiea.

Meanwhile, Waikenda expressed his concerns with the society where high school students are indulging in drug abuse and immoral acts, while others setting dormitories a blaze.

“What is happening to the moral fabric of our society when we have high school kids doing immoral things in buses, cops stripping kids to take pictures, kids burning other kids in schools and recording of immoral act posted online? We as country have a reason to be deeply concerned,” expressed Waikenda.
