Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has blamed increased illicit brewing on corruption and vowed to tackle the menace despite facing criticism.
Addressing members of the public at Waginge Trading Centre on Thursday, Waititu said corruption is rampant in the alcoholic industry and he will not tire up in the fight against brews.
He said at least six youths have died as a result of consuming poisonous liquor in Kabete in the last two months.
“We have buried six youths from Kabete as a result of substandard alcohol and illicit brews,” he said.
Waititu further said he will continue with the crackdown on rogue bar outlets.
The MP said he has the blessings of Kabete people who are tired of seeing their young generation perish.
The lawmaker accused the county administration of doing nothing to save the young generation.
Waititu lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta’s intervention saying it will help in rooting out illicit brewers.
The MP warned local administrators against collaborating and soliciting for bribes from illicit brewers.
“I will not hesitate to expose and call for the sacking of chiefs who will be found colluding with brewers,” he said.
Waititu also said he has no apology to make after he led youths in raiding some bar outlets in Kabete last weekend.
