A warning has been issued to residents in Athi River Sub-County against encroaching on a public utility land within Athi River Town.
Addressing the press on Thursday in Athi River Town, the area administration commander, Stephen Matu, said "notorious" land grabbers were in the prowl.
"This is very serious, we cannot watch as the notorious land brokers in Mlolongo and Athi River towns grab all utility land in this sub-county," said Matu.
Matu said his department would seek reinforcement from other police units to eject individuals who according to him have invaded the Numerical Engineering Machine land, which he says is a public land in Athi River.
"The same people who have been causing problems at the East Africa Portland Cement Company's land in Athi River have encroached in to the Numerical Engineering Machine land," said Matu.
Matu said the culprits were well known land brokers whom he says are keen to acquire any land lying fallow in the entire sub county, especially in the town and its environs.
He advised those intending to purchase land within the sub-county to be cautious and follow the right procedures. He said that several con land brokers sell land which do not belong to them thereby causing buyers great losses.
