A section of ODM officials have called for the sacking of Nyamira County assembly majority chief whip, accusing him of working with the Jubilee coalition.
Speaking on Tuesday at a funeral ceremony at Rigoma, ODM assistant secretary general Dominic Oiko led other party supporters in calling for outer of Peter Maroro for allegedly working with Jubilee government to undermine the party.
They said the Manga MCA has been secretly leading campaigns of strategising for the current governor, John Nyagarama, to ditch CORD for the newly constituted JAP.
“We have enough intelligence from the ground that Mr Maroro is a major undoing for our party. He has failed to rally for unity among the ODM MCAs in the assembly besides conspiring with the Jubilee government to undermine our party,” he said.
They urged ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba to act in speed to salvage the image of the party by carrying out radical surgery.
“As grassroots officials, we have written to the party secretariat and we hope the secretary general will act in speed and restore order in the house. We are tired with his (Maroro) leadership and time has come to show him the door,” he added.
However, Maroro denied the claims when contacted by Hivisasa.com and accused his fellow MCAs of rallying against his ouster.
“I am a loyal member of he party and they know that. They are worried of my political influence but let them know that I am never scared of them,” he said.
