A middle aged woman who allegedly stole beauty products valued at Sh3,510 from a supermarket in Kiambu Town has been released on a Sh20, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount by a Kiambu Court.

Ann Wanjiku appeared before Kiambu Principal Magistrate, Diana Mochache on Thursday.

The court heard that on June 2, 2015 the accused allegedly stole 13 Nivea Roll-on perfumes, the property of Kamindi Selfrides Supermarket in Kiambu town.

The prosecution revealed that on the material day, the accused entered the supermarket posing as a customer and headed to a shelf inside the supermarket where the perfumes were displayed for sale.

When one of the employees noticed the perfumes were missing, he immediately notified his boss who reported the matter at Kiambu Police Station and investigations commenced.

A CCTV camera installed in the supermarket showed the accused allegedly putting the perfumes inside her handbag. Although she left the supermarket unnoticed, she was later arrested within Kiambu Town by police officers on patrol and was taken to Kiambu Police Station.

The accused was released on a cash bail of Sh5,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 3, 2015.
