Police in Yatta Town on Monday ambushed a middle-aged woman in her home after a tip-off from the public that she was selling bhang and other drugs to the youths in the area.
The operation led by Inspector Simon Kakemu and other community policing and security officers led to the arrest of three other consumers of the drugs.
According to the officers, the culprit is a well-known notorious resident and the police have been pursuing her since she was operating in Kyaume before moving to Yatta after noticing that the police were after her.
Inspector Kakemu said that the members of public have been observing her moves as they knew the time she brings the stock and they informed the police the exact time and on ambush they caught her red-handed with the drugs while the consumers were ready to buy.
The officers said that they had raided her home severally but each time they missed the drugs and let her free but this time they have the evidence and she will be arraigned in court immediately.
The officer called upon the youth from the area to desist from drug abuse, as it causes irreversible damage not only to their own lives, but to the society too.
“Many young people around are idle and have instead turned to drug abuse and drug peddling. Instead of engaging in illegal activities, let's settle down and start businesses that will better their living standards,” he called.
