Women leaders in Nakuru county are now calling for the investigations of the gynecologists in the area following the expose on Mugo Wa Wairimu.
The leaders expressed concern that the same could be happening to thousands of patients especially in the rural parts of the county where most women are illiterate women who lack information.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday the bbNominated Member of County assembly Esther Mengere called for speedy investigations into all them reproductive health clinics in the area.
“We have also heard complains that in rural areas women are forced to sleep with midwives during labor where they are told it will help expand the baby’s path,” she quipped
Mengere argued that there should also be adequate civic awareness for all patients.
“Women should also be encouraged to visit gynecologists either accompanied by their husbands or a close friend,” she added
Viwandani MCA Eunice Mureithi appealed for a hotline for patients to report their woes.
“We are calling to the telecommunication companies to come up with a hotline whereby we can report any cases of being mishandled. Its very hard for a patient to go to the police claiming she was raped by a doctor due to the protocol involved. The patient might also feel intimidated and ashamed. Reporting to a hotline is safer for the patients,” she cited
