Class eight candidates of Kisumu Union Secondary School in Kisumu County have reasons to improve on their performances after they received geometrical sets and other essentials from a women group.

The school deputy head teacher Mrs Pauline Kazi revealed that most of the pupils have been having quite a number of difficulties in doing their examinations more so mathematics due to lack of those important instruments.

Mrs Kazi applauded Wise Ladies Women Group for coming up with an idea of helping needy pupils in various schools within Kisumu County.

The deputy head added that most of the children in her school have not been having geometrical sets and that is making it difficult for them to pass mathematical examinations and other science related subjects, saying that most of the pupils come from poor families who could not afford to buy them one.

“I am grateful that Wise Ladies Women Group chose to help students from our school. The group members have really helped tackle this challenge we have been facing in schools. This is also a motivation from the group to our candidates,” said Mrs Kazi.

She revealed that most of the candidates are dwelling in the slum estates and their parents are just doing small businesses and at times they cannot even afford buying mathematical sets and other required materials.

However, according to the Wise Ladies Vice Chairperson Mrs Otieno Violet, the group is out to motivate schools situated in slum areas and boost the performances of the candidates within Kisumu County.

She called upon other charity organisations to come to their aid to support the needy pupils to get proper education.

They were speaking at Kisumu Union Primary School after donating pants, boxers and geometrical sets.
