Gatundu North Uwezo Fund Coordinator Mary Wahugu has called on women and youth to form groups to access government loans.
Wahugu said there is need for the women to be empowered through Uwezo Fund to improve their lives.
“Uwezo Fund has transformed the lives of Gatundu Women and youth by improving their livelihood,” said Wahugu.
Speaking on Friday in Gatundu North, Kiambu County after meeting members of Kangata Welfare Group, Wahugu urged the national government to release the remaining batch of the money after the successful intake by women.
“The government should consider releasing the money as intake among women and youth has been encouraging,” said Wahugu.
Wahugu thanked those who are repaying the loans saying they have set a good example to other applicants who are willing to apply for the loans.
“The repayment of the Uwezo loans has been good and this will encourage more groups to repay their loans,” said Wahugu.
She further urged women to form more groups to access the fund.
“Uwezo Fund is a revolving fund aimed at benefiting as many women and youth as possible and there is need for more women to form groups,” said Wahugu.
She however urged those willing to apply for the fund to utilise it properly by starting income-generating projects.
