Bodaboda operators in Yatta town have raised concern with rising insecurity as attacks on colleagues increase.

Yaata town bodaboda operators association chairman Enos Mwokia said on Wednesday that attacks targeting the riders had risen, calling on authorities to scale up security.

Mr Mwokia made the plea a day after he reported an incident where he was attacked at night as he returned home.

He claimed he was waylaid by unknown people who attacked him as he closed duty to return home at 9pm on Tuesday.

Mr Mwokia said were it not for an oncoming vehicle which flashed headlights, he would have been killed during the Uika junction incident.

He spoke two weeks after two suspected motorbike thieves escaped as members of the public pursued them in Yaata town.

Mr Mwokia made the revelation during a meeting held in Yaata town on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Yaata sub-county police boss Edward Kipsang said police have launched investigations and were ready to fight rising crime in the town.
