A Sh51 million grant has been given towards the improvement of five feeder roads in Yatta Sub-County, the sub-county Roads Engineer Julius Giti has said.
Speaking when he toured the rehabilitation areas funded by the county government on Thursday morning, Giti said that the grant was to improve the condition of the roads that would be murramed and gravelled.
Among the roads that are going to benefit from the grant are Kathaka-Kanoro, Uika-Giambambo, Kyeni-Kaareni, Matuu-Kigundo and Kibuga-Kamaende.
Giti added that his office normally does spot improvements with the help of stakeholders who identify the most difficult parts of the roads which enhance better service delivery since there is no bias.
Tendering for the construction was done on Wednesday at the sub-county commissioner's boardroom before evaluation that will be done on Tuesday next week.
Giti said that although they hoped the construction would kick off soon, the actual construction would have commenced by June.
He commended the government and the foreign donors for chipping in to help improve the road.
