The race for the ongoing ODM top jobs at the grassroots is set to take a new dimension after National Treasurer Timothy Bosire backed a youthful leader for chair at the county level.
This comes shortly after Bogichora MCA Beuttah Omanga who formerly led the ODM brigade in the county assembly before his ouster expressed interest in the seat.
Omanga, who is 31, was tipped as the suitable candidate given his close association with the party at the national level but his plans might be paralysed following the latest entry of Andrew Momanyi.
Speaking at Rigoma Market on Monday, Bosire who also represents Kitutu Masaba in the assembly said Momanyi was the right candidate for the seat given his loyalty to the party.
“I want to urge youths to choose carefully. We have a man who has remained supportive even at turbulent moments and that is Andrew. I will ensure that he gets to the top office to organise our youths. He is a good choice and I am proud of him,” he said.
However, the unexpected endorsement has not gone down well with Omanga’s team. Manga MCA Peter Maroro has accused the MP of imposing leaders on supporters.
“I really don’t like a scenario where someone imposes leaders on people. We cannot continue debating the issue every time. Time has come for the MP to respect the rule of law and desist from using his influence as the party’s county chairman to favour some people,” he said.
