A 20-year-old man accused of stealing more than Sh40,000 from an M-PESA shop in Nakuru has been released on a bond by a Nakuru court after denying the charges.

The accused, Peter Njoroge, together with others who were not before the court are said to have broken into an M-PESA shop situated in Nakuru’s CBD and allegedly stole the money on August 18.

Njoroge however pleaded innocent before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo and requested to be set free by the court.

“I was not there when the robbery took place and therefore it is not just to accuse me of something that I am not even aware of when and where it happened," Njoroge said.

He said that he has never been incriminated in any case before saying this came as a shock to him.

The court released him on a bail of Sh30,000 as he waits his case to be heard on September 28.
