Youth in Nakuru have been urged to be ambassadors of peace, cohesion and an inclusive society where oneness will steer development.
Speaking in Molo sub-county on Tuesday after overseeing a youth talents forum at the sub-county hall, county youth director Wachira Migwi expressed concern at the rate at which young people were being involved in crime.
He said that young people were the pacesetters in society, arguing that a society that sidelines the youth is a ruined society.
“When given chance, young people have proved to transform the society for the better because they are the ones who are used to perpetuate all wrongs amongst us,” he said.
Mr Migwi further exuded confidence in Governor Mbugua’s style of leadership saying that a lot of emphasis on fresh energies.
“Our county government has been on the forefront in ensuring that youths are motivated by not only being given leadership positions but also financing their business proposals that has in turn led to a more self-reliant generation,” he explained.
Young groups were showcasing different talents including singing, rapping, dancing, poetry among others with the finalists from all the sub-counties will battle it out at the Old town hall on August 29, 2015.
“Utilising talent and inborn abilities is the foundation of such events,” Migwi noted, adding that “Young talents are given opportunity to showcase what they have sending a wake-up call to others who may not have the idea of the importance of talent.”
He used the event to call for peaceful correlation in the county saying that it was only by respecting diverse opinions that county governments would prosper.
“Be an ambassador of peace because that is what counties are supposed to preach. Nepotism, favourism and tribalism has no place in our modern society,” he added.
