The IEBC has once again been challenged to start early registration in a bid to reach thousands of youths and women who had reached the minimum age of registering as voters.

Speaking on Friday at Gesima market during a meet-the-youth campaign, aspiring MP John Ogeto accused the IEBC of failing to kick off early registration and called upon the political leadership to mount pressure to ensure Kenyans got their constitutional right of electing good leaders.

He said it was the obligation of the electoral commission to ensure all Kenyans were registered in time.

“I am aware that a number of our youths haven’t been registered and this is really worrying. IEBC has the mandate to ensure that Kenyans get this crucial right. Many of them haven’t been registered and this is the right time. The registration must be fair in all areas,” he said.

Mr Ogeto challenged the youths to turn up in large numbers and apply for identity cards in a bid to elect visionary young leaders to various elective posts.

“We can do it. For a long time now, we have been treated as subordinates and are the right time to get identity cards and unleash in 2017. Let us ensure young people are elected to various positions,” he added.

The flamboyant businessman will be the youngest to get to a ballot box in the history of Kisii politics at the age of 26 in 2017.
