Gilgil Member of Parliament Ndiritu Mathenge has called on youths to pursue academic programs that will equip them with knowledge and skills to fit in the global competitive job market. 

Mr Ndiritu was speaking on Saturday at Oljorai area in Gilgil constituency in a thanks giving service that was organised to honor Gladys Naisei, after graduating from St Paul’s University with a degree in Communication and Development.

"People who are well educated can understand many things in this competitive world, all youths should be keen when choosing courses to undertake and how the courses will help them be successful," Mr Mathenge said.

Mr Mathenge also asked youth to acquire relevant skills that will enable them create job opportunities rather than depend on formal employment.

"Education is power and youths should work hard in their studies, it will be shameful to hear people complain that there are no jobs yet through studies you can create your own job and not sit down waiting for an employer to come and give you a job," Mr Mathenge further added.

The MP was also accompanied by Nakuru ODM chairman Peter Ole Osono who urged the community to give girls an opportunity to study and fulfill their dreams just like Gladys Naisei.
