This is after a bodaboda operator was seriously injured by unknown criminals on Thursday and his motorbike stolen.

The demonstrations led by Kabete Youth chairman Francis Mbogo said that the incident was the second in a month. This is after another incident that left residents shocked when a middle-aged woman was raped and seriously beaten before the criminals went away with her valuables in the area. He explained despite the incident, no action had been taken to bring to book those who committed the offence.

Mbogo said that the area has been neglected and police have not secured the area posing a risk to the locals in the area. He revealed that they were demonstrating for they needed police to take immediate action to curb the insecurity experienced in the area

“We need to be secure just like any other place in the region. We feel insecure because no action is being taken,” Mbogo said.

He added: “When a woman is raped by criminals before being beaten and robbed, that shows the level of insecurity in the area. Our demonstration is peaceful as we want police action towards insecurity in Zambezi,’’ said the youth chairman.

However, according to the OCPD Mutune Maweu, the police have not neglected any area in the region as their purpose is to serve the people. He revealed police had information about the acts that had taken place and according to the investigations gathered, this was a gang called ‘Gully’ that was part of the ‘Raia’ gang that police had dealt with few months ago.

The police boss assured the locals that security is beefed up and the culprits will be brought to book.
