The construction has been ongoing for four years. The project was completed at a cost of Sh9 million drawn from the area’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

School principal, Dickson Thumbi, said the new dormitory will help ease congestion in the existing ones.

The principal said the number of students joining the school had trebled in the last four years, hence the congestion in the existing dormitories.

“The recommended number per dormitory was 80 students, but the number had risen to 120,” he said.

Thumbi was speaking at the school on Monday when the contractor officially handed over the building to the school management.

“Having the recommended number of students in the dorms will make it easy to maintain hygiene. It will also help in escaping if there is an emergency,” he said

Speaking during the same function, deputy CDF chairman Anthony Njenga called on the government to improve the empowerment of the boy child since he was neglected for long.

“The boy child has been abandoned by the whole society ranging from the government, human rights officers, parents and even religious leaders. I ask the government to commence playing a fair game on boy empowerment to avoid messing with tomorrow’s leadership,” Njenga said.
