The along waited mortuary facilities worth over Ksh 50 million have finally arrived at General Kago Road funeral home in Thika level 5 Hospital.
The cargo which was imported from Germany on Wednesday are expected to greatly boost services at the vital the County facility.
The County Government of Kiambu purchased and delivered the facilities to the institution to following the complaints from the public over its general condition of the.
The medical superintendent of Thika Level 5 Jacob Andrew Toro confirmed the equipment will improve services not only in Thika but also in neighbouring counties of Murang’a, Kerugoya as well as the entire Kiambu County.
“The equipment will improve quality of services in delivery and preservation of the bodies; moreover, we expect to improve the mortuary capacity from 24 to 120”, he said.
The medic has extended his gratitude to the Kiambu County Government for the full support and delivering on the promises made during its manifesto since the services will now be at subsidized cost compared to the previous charges and private sectors as well.
The Superintendent added that Mount Kenya University (MKU) will now access quality medical classes in the mortuary due to improved facilities thus going hand in hand for the betterment of vision 2030.
“The students of MKU will now have a quality education with sate of the art facilities since we are in partnership with the school”, Toro said.
The equipment included post mortem tables, refrigerator drawers among others whose installation is set to be completed this October
