Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has vowed to help county's students who survived in Garissa University terrorist attack.

Addressing journalists in Kisii town Ongwae said his government will put proper mechanisms to help the affected students.

He promised to give both financial and material support.

“My government will help those students who escaped from terrorists' hands. We will make sure they enrol in local universities since they cannot go back to Garissa,” said Ongwae.

 He further noted that he has delegated a team to support the survivors financially hence facilitating travelling to their homes.  

Ongwae said that his government will coordinate with the National Government and see how they can help the bereaved families with funeral arrangements.

Governor said the survivors will be counselled to help them overcome the experience.

His statement comes a day after his wife said would offer counselling to the survivors.
