The much awaited 2018 FIFA world cup will kick off today in Russia with a total of 32 national teams set to take part in the event.
Here is a list of players of African descent who will be taking part in the event but will be representing top European countries instead of African countries of their origin.
1) Martin Tony Waikwa Olsson
He was born on 17 May 1988 (30yrs) to a Swedish father and a Kenyan mother.He will be representing Sweden.
2) Bamidele Jermaine Alli
Born on 11 April 1996 (22yrs) to a Nigerian father. He will be representing England.
3) Paul Labile Pogba
Born on born 15 March 1993 (25yrs) to both Guinean parents. He will represent France.
4) Blaise Matuidi
Born on 9 April 1987 (31yrs). He is of Angolan origin but will represent France in 2018 Russia world cup.
5) William Silva de Carvalho
Born on 7 April 1992 (26yrs) .He is of Angolan origin and he will be representing Portugal.
6) N'Golo Kanté
He was born on 29 March 1991 (27yrs) to a Malian parent.He will be representing France national team.
7) Samuel Umtiti
He was born on 14 November 1993 (23yrs) in Yaoundé,Cameroon. He will represent France in the world cup.
8) Romelu Menama Lukaku Bolingoli
He was born on 13 May 1993 (25yrs) to Democratic Republic of Congo parents. He will represent Belgium national team.
9) Jérôme Agyenim Boateng
He was born on 3 September 1988 (29yrs) to Ghanaian parent. He will represent Germany national team.
10) Daniel Nii Tackie Mensah Welbeck
He was born on 26 November 1990( 27yrs) to a Ghanaian parent.He will represent England.
