3 bulls and 7 goats were on Saturday slaughtered as a sacrifice before the commencement of the Kikuyu Association circumcision ceremony at Munyaka community grounds. The slaughtering was done by chosen elders who directed fire to Mount Kenya where according to the believes of Kikuyu community lies their God.
The boys were all served with enough meat, other traditional foods and drinks after which they proceeded for an official opening of the event at night.
Speaking from the event at 9:00 pm, Daniel Nyamiti the sub county commissioner who officiated the event encouraged the candidates to be courageous and put into practice the taught topics in the program.
"I want to encourage you boys to be brave enough as you undergo the cut; we all are alumni of the activity. It’s a lifetime event which you are advised to take as sacred. Please remember to follow the teachings you will receive from our elders," he urged the male candidates.
Nyamiti requested the 1, 500 boys to further follow their passion of building the nation after achieving their desired goals.
Nyamiti noted that those who endured pain and put in practice the elderly advice ended up being as respectable members in the society.
Speaking on behalf of the elders, Ngugi wamarungo from Nyeri said that the boys would be made warriors of the community and would be followed until they succeed in life.
"I can see bravery and eagerness to serve from these energetic boys, with my authority given from my able elders, I officially open this event and encourage you boys to be brave," he said.
