Ten people have been confirmed dead following a Tuesday morning accident when a bus collided with a lorry along Bangal-Ukasi Road in Tana River County.

According to police reports, several other passengers were injured and the death toll may increase.

Kenya Red Cross said casualties were rushed to Garissa PG Hospital with multiple injuries.

The bus was headed for Nairobi from Garissa when the accident happened at around 3am.

North Eastern police boss Edward Mwamburi said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
