At least 10 people have died following a Saturday night accident on the Tawa-Machakos road.

The accident occurred at Kikima area at the border of Machakos and Makueni counties at about 7pm.

The bus which was transporting passengers from a dowry ceremony veered off the road and rolled several times.

Mbooni OCPD James Baraza said four women and a seven-year old boy died on Saturday night, while 59 other passengers were injured in the accident.

"Three people died on the spot while two died others died at Tawa Hospital," said the OCPD.

The death toll rose to 10 Sunday morning.

Most of the seriously injured are at Makueni County Referral Hospital in Wote Town.
