Ten people have been admitted to various hospitals after they fell down from a tree while watching Madaraka Day celebrations in Meru.
The incident which appended near the newly refurbished Kinoru Stadium sent people down the tree scuttling after two branches the men were seated on broke, bringing all the ten down.
The stadium is said to have filled to capacity and authorities had to stop more people from trooping inside. This forced those locked outside to catch a glimpse of the celebrations on trees near the stadium.
But after the incident the crowds outside the stadium were allowed into the facility to seat on the grass and follow the proceedings.
Good Samaritans had to quickly intervene and carry those injured to ambulances which rushed them to hospital.
According to Radio Jambo police had earlier on barred the crowed from climbing on trees but the huge crowed overpowered the cops and some of those in attendance climbed on trees to catch a glimpse of what was going on inside the stadium.
One among those injured are said to be in critical condition after breaking ribs after falling.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, opposition and chief Raila Odinga are among leaders who were in attendance during the celebrations.
