School going children are set to be given 10 million shoes in an anti-jigger campaign.
According to Ahadi Trust Chief Executive Officer Stanley Kamau the move is aimed to ensure that school going children remain in school.
Kamau was speaking in Trans Nzoia County when he distributed shoes at the Milima Primary School.
He further called on political aspirants not to forget about the menace as they talk about addressing other social challenges facing Kenyans.
“The government has been able to give us a policy on jiggers. We will now have a jiggers awareness day March 3 every year,” he said.
He further pointed out Busia, Bungoma, Kilifi, Lamu and Murang’a as some of top ten counties known to be notorious for the jigger menace.
