A class three pupil from Metkei village in Kuresoi South in Nakuru County has committed suicide.
The lifeless body of Brian Kipkirui was on Friday found dangling from a tree, a day after he reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself.
The body of 10-year-old pupil at Kingston Academy was discovered by his guardian hanging from a tree within the compound.
"I brought this boy to live with us after his mother died several years ago, I took him to school where he joined nursery school," said his guardian Sammy Rono.
Rono said the boy could have been overcome by depression after the death of his mother some years years ago.
According to Rono, Kipkurui stayed briefly with his grandmother in Kericho before an aunt took him to Kuresoi.
The boy had previously been working as a herds-boy in Narok, he added.
He said the boy was an obedient and bright pupil and had been crowned the school head boy the same day he took his life.
Kuresoi OCPD Osborn Kadenge confirmed the incident and said police have launched investigations into his death.
Nakuru Deputy Governor's wife Beatrice Korir said parents and teachers must be close to needy students to make them understand their problems.
"Such cases can only be prevented by staying closer to needy children who need love. They must have lacked someone to share his problems," Korir said.
