Another set of 100 boda boda motorcyclists have undergone road safety training, less than two months after over 100 others went through the same induction.
All the 100 riders successfully completed the training and were issued with driving licenses.
Tai Driving School Director Enock Kalu said boda boda riders contribute a high number of road accidents and the training exercise will enable them follow traffic rules.
He said some of the road accidents could be avoided if the riders knew road safety guidelines as spelt by the Traffic Act and the National Transport and Safety Authority.
Kalu said the training is the second among the many safety trainings Tai Driving School will conduct in Marsabit County with the objective of reducing road accidents.
He said Tai school will continue collaborating with the county government in rolling-out the programme outside Marsabit town. Kalu said the training is important taking into account the poor road network in Marsabit County.
He said the campaign to reduce road accidents could be a success only that some road users are ill-informed of the safety guidelines available.
Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani in 2016 said boda boda riders in the county will be enjoined in safety trainings in a bid to curb road carnage. He said the county government will fund the trainings.
Kalu called on boda boda riders to always use helmets and reflectors jackets while at work.
