Heavy rainfall of more than 30mm is expected to start on Wednesday, October 24, over the coastal region of Kenya.
The Kenya Meteorological Department said the rainfall is expected to intensify to more than 40mm in 24hrs on Thursday (October 25), along the south coast, while On Friday October 26), the rainfall intensity along the coast will decrease to 30mm in 24 hours.
In a weather update to relevant authorities including the Kenya Red Cross and Coast county governments on Tuesday, the weatherman warned that the heavy rains will be accompanied by strong winds and large waves.
Counties expected to affected include Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River.
Residents in the said areas have been advised to be on the lookout for flashflood as fishermen and those going to the beach are advised to be very cautious with ocean tides.
