ODM leader Raila Odinga on Saturday travelled to Wajir County accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and other leaders for a fundraiser.
Raila and Joho presided over a funds drive that was organised by Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.
The event saw millions raised in a matter of hours during the afternoon event at Wajir Township Primary School grounds.
Gedi revealed that Raila and Joho managed to help raise a whooping Sh59,756,400 which will be used in aid of Al Fatah Islamic institute.
Gedi through her Facebook page further revealed that Sh5.8 million will be given to women groups in the county.
She also said that county youths will be sent to the National Industrial Training Authority(NITA) to pursue different courses through a youth project that will cost Sh5.4 million.
“The drive saw a whooping of Sh59,756,400 collected for endowment. At the same event, I handed over cheques worth Sh5.8 million to 38 women groups. Additionally, together with the chief guests, we flagged off a youth project worth Sh5.4 million that will send 200 young men and women across the six constituencies to National Industrial Training Authority(NITA) to pursue different courses,” posted Gedi on her Facebook page.
